Naval Anchorage Gwadar
Gwadar port is located at the mouth of the Gulf of Oman, in Pakistan. This deep-water natural harbour was built in the 1960s. Gwadar is strategically located at the crossroads of South Asia and the Middle East and has been developed into a major international seaport. Gwadar Port is known as the western gateway to China and Central Asia.
Gwadar port is located at the mouth of the Arabian Sea, about 100 km south of Karachi, Pakistan. Gwadar port is being developed by the government of Pakistan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Gwadar port was constructed by Chinese engineers in record time between 2009 and 2013. The total cost of construction was over $ 1 billion. On 20 April 2014, President Mamnoon Hussain officially inaugurated the first phase of Gwadar Port. This phase has two berths capable of handling vessels up to 120,000 DWT. Phase 2 will have three berths with a design capacity of 250,000 DWT.
